Lose Weight with a Personal Trainer in Portland

It's no secret that being overweight is a serious health issue, but it may be a shock to learn that eating the everyday "low fat" and "sugar free" options may actually be much more harmful than helpful.  As your personal trainer, I will help you burn more calories in the gym through smart training, and keep your diet flush with food that will keep your metabolism up throughout the day. 

If you are looking to loose weight, ignore health magazines and gimmick diets (for now!).  Concentrate on two things, increasing your calorie demand and lowering your calorie supply.  If you body is at a calorie deficit your body will be forced to metabolize energy (calories) from your fat supply.

There are two major things you can do to inhibit your weight loss, and you should avoid them at all cost.  One is fasting.  While it works extremely well for a few people, the majority of us will slow down our metabolism, increase our stress and cause us to binge.  Eating throughout the day will keep your body burning energy at a consistent rate and will keep you from getting angry at the barista who gave you whole milk when you ordered non-fat.

The second major thing to avoid is spiking your blood sugar with your orange-mocha-frappacino or any other unfiltered sugar source.  See my downloads page for a list of low-glycemic foods and other tips on keeping your body from working against your goals.
